How do you think this Covid 19 virus will affect how closely we live near one another once this is over? Are there any lessons to be learned here, especially for those of us who live in highly populated areas on top of one another in apartments and houses? I think most of us will re-evaluate how closely we live in overpopulated areas like NYC and the Bay Area once this is over and done with.

its a wrap for the luxury market. hotels, bars, casinos, the nightlife and social pomp will take a stumbling blow.

gallery foreclosures for sure.

we were leaning to a more "social uncoupling" anyway. it wont change my situation much apart from gallery's but thats just gibber gabber the money is in people indoors still which is were we are all leaning too.

the burger joint down the road due to this corona is not taking cash, only card payments. that speaks volumes :manny:

Might even slow down gentrification. Moneyed up gentify-ers wanted back into the city centers for the arts, restaurants, bars, sporting events, museums, etc. but all that shyt is closed show. Plus you're around 10x more people than opposed to living out in the sticks. Yeah things hopefully will go back to normal but alot of these businesses won't survive even a month of being closed.

It will be touch and go for a while people will be very cautious and weary of big gathering spots but in about a year or so it will be business as usual and in like 5 like it never happened

it will be more of a novelty /historical marker like 911 they’ll ask “where were you when the quarantine hit”

I’m thinking it has to have some sort of effect on how closely people gather in close spaces in big cities. Bars and restaurants will probably have to adhere to maximum capacity guidelines etc.

yeah.

theres talk of some pubs/bars holding a "lock-in" but they risk losing their license.

i just dont see how it is wise to go to large events anyway but now i wont participate and anyone who frequented those places just for ass they will move more online because a lot of these places are funded by dates/couples.

+ side note i had court this month but all cases are suspended for 6 months. so its real talk everywhere after this way more enforced cleanliness.

I am glad that you brought this up. I noticed in congested areas, there is more of a concerted effort by the sanitation department to keep those streets cleaner than other places. I would think the public health offices would definitely be hiring to ensure the overall safety and cleanliness of public spaces in major cities.

I disagree that people will be more cautious.

This is America where Sandy Hook didn't invoke gun control.

Vegas didn't stop mass mass gatherings.

Trump impeachment failed.

People will probably go harder than before and the mass shootings, moral decay and morbid cretinism will again rule the land.
The difference between these events and this crisis is that everyone is directly affected now. Not saying I necessarily disagree with your prediction.

It will be business as usual by mid-summer, this includes going to large gatherings, bars, clubs, etc. Majority of Americans are young/middle-aged and will be unaffected.

you're severely underestimating the effects of coronavirus

the socio-economic ramifications of this won't go away within 3 months

I'm not even speaking on socio-economic ramifications. I'm purely speaking about the behavior of U.S citizens. As soon as they are given the green light, those that can afford to will be out and about. The "itch" is real.

I think you are severely underestimating the impact on the local economy when your favorite restaurant and bars are no longer open because they don’t have access to the bailout loans. Is everyone going to want to chill and drink at Applebee’s and Cheesecake Factory when they are in the mood to be social?

I can’t see people not wanting to go back to riding overcrowding subways and buses full of germs and disease.
