When you come home do you feel that the government and populace as a whole treat you well? I was speaking to my grandad (he's a WW2 vet) and he said he never felt that the government handled those who came home very well. I ask cause well enlisting has crossed my mind recently.

Maybe my situation is different. .. but i never really needed the government after i got out. People have blasted me for not taking advantage of different stuff... but i did my own thing.

Only thing i still use from my military days is my Navy Federal Credit Union. Just got a great rate on a new car loan. And i lie when i get new auto insurance and say im active duty. Get insurance stupid cheap. Other than that i am :yeshrug:

The Truth
Hell nah

I'm still waiting on shyt for the VA

VA in GA is like one of the worst ones too. Lowest rating I've seen. Then they told me I have to drive to the one in Decatur (like 40-1hr away) because the one by my house is "full".

I mean it's better than nothing but these nikkas be trying you. They was even trying to take me off my sleep meds that I've been on for years since I've had random sleep issues/patterns and I'm looking at this chick like "for what?" That shyt don't even hurt you long term.

Unemployment office Veterans side is cool but the jobs they offer are straight bullshyt. If you a homeless vet then please take it, if not then don't bother. Jobs like dishwasher, fry cook, security, etc.

And dealing with the Veterans section in certain schools turn me off as well.

Let's just say a lot of them got a particular attitude which is crazy so I deal through wounded warriors now. I remember getting my blood work at the VA done and this dude sticks the needle in the wrong spot. Then he gets it right and doesn't wrap the tape good enough and it pops off and I start bleeding.

I look at this dude with blood dripping down my arm like I was ready to kill his ass because they try to talk to you crazy like you still in the military when you come up in there. They talk to you like a number not a person. He reapplied tape to my arm as I'm just standing over him then he dips out the room.

It's ok but definitely could be a lot better. I've seen good people working there and then straight up fakkits... The only words.

What bothers me is that it's a lot of black people up there being the shady ones. In fact, it's mainly them which I can't even understand how

fukk yes...wear a jacket with command patches and shyt and you hve bums wanting to give you a hug,and white peoplr giving you daps.

Police automatically give you the benefit of the doubt and trear you like a regular citizen(which the fakkits should to begin with:pacspit:

Also im going through homelessness but due to being a veteran I get faster and better access to the resources since i'm a veteran.

They treat veterans good..the gi bill alone is worth it.

Goto a school in NYC,live in NJ and you gettimg like $3100/month for a housing allowance...im gonna goto a school in Seattle zip code which I believe I would give me a $1800/month allowance..which is great as as soon as you go south of seattle or north it gets way cheaper :ahh:

Also that free burger from Red Robin on veterans day :steviej:

Honestly your goal in the military should be SAVE fukkING MONEY.

If you happen to like your experience and want to stay in fine...but go into the service with the plan of saving your loot...or doing shyt like getting a cheap car and paying it off before you get out.

DONT get no bullshyt like a bmw either breh because them car dealerships will give you shyt like that because theu can just take it right from your pay automatically on the 1st and 15th. If you e-1 I believe you only starting out with a $600-$700 check

Save money breh,SAVE..best advice I can give you. Don't be a total shytbag either because you may end up wanting to re-enlist and it might emd up be harder because you have shyt evaluations from your command.

The VA official was a bytch at my old school. One of them old tough black ladies...did 20yrs in the Army :scust: So of course combine that and her being from the south you already know she mean as shyt on that :mjpls: Towards young brothas off rip :francis:

But im dealing with VA in Seattle..so I guess the people up here are just more laid back and shyt up here. My only gripe is it's a pain in the ass to enroll in healthcare.

You gotta do paperwork for education benefits, goto another location for healthcare, and they tell you to goto American Legion for service claim :bryan:

God help you if medical didnt put some shyt in your record before you got out :bryan:

It's a give and take. You gotta know how to get yours cause the government sure as hell is gone get theirs. If depends on what branch you go to also. They call the Air Force the chair force but that branch treats its people the best.

Yoooooo wtf lmao. It would be the weirdest shyt ever having conservative white folks walk up to me in uniform after work at the gas station. I'd be on the defensive cause any other time I'd get ignored or they would treat like a criminal. I had to set up my cable right after work cause they closed like an hour after we got off so I had to go in uniform. I pull up the same time an old black does. She see my hat and start eyeballing a brotha. So I'm like was going on. Soon as I get out of the car. She get out hers. I start walking to the cable office she start walk their too. She sparks up a convo, talking about random shyt asking me about where my grandparents are from and yadda yadda yadda. The Cable lady is black too and it's my turn in line but the old black lady is yappin her head off. Long story short the older black lady respected that I wasn't another black man out committing crimes and playing into stereotypes. It had me feeling like :leon::steviej::takedat::pachaha:. I was proud somebody respected me.

I would say it is way better than when I fathers and grandfathers were in for sure. There are a lot of programs and benefits for veterans, it really is unbelievable because of the perks that we get. I think, as a whole, society treats us much better than your average citizen for sure. I am always getting "thank you's" and "let me pay for your beer/food" (I turn these down because, I and most others, don't do it for hand outs). But it is very much appreciated.

I would say, if you enlist, make every day count - enroll in college because it's free, learn everything you can and do your best. One thing I will say for sure, is the effort you put in to support other people, they will turn around support you.

Finally, I enlisted when I was 23. I look back now and with confidence I will say that I wish I would have joined right after high school. I as an F student and I barely graduated, I had no sense of pride or discipline. The Army gave me both - and I have excel and I continue to excel. It's a lot of pain in the ass to be truthful, but just remember all the reasons why you signed up and don't lose sight of your goals. Trust me, if you have goals in the military, you will succeed. A lot of brothers fail to realize that.

Good luck on your journey breh
