"A really good example of why markets are better than government, while admitting that both are far from perfect, is comparing the speed of reaction by Chipotle in finding that their food was harming their customers versus the City of Flint being informed that its water was poisoning its citizens. Days versus years.

No human social system is perfect. But comparative political economy is all about what sorts of institutions are better at detecting mistakes and then providing the information and incentives to correct those mistakes. On that score, markets are better, as Chipotle vs. Flint indicates.

And let's not forget the ability to exit. Chipotle consumers had other options. The citizens of Flint? Not so much". - Steve Horwitz

ive been growing more and more disgusted with these union-driven bureaucracies :scusthov:

it would seem that preserving your employment and benefits vastly outweighs the pursuit of results

no for real though, Chipotle's response to this has been pathetic.

they should take some lessons from Jack In The Box. They don't have stores over here on the East Coast anymore because of the same shyt.

How about you compare it to how long it took tobacco companies to put warnings on cigarettes?:sas2:

Between the different norovirus outbreaks and salmonella outbreaks I probably won't be eating at a Chipotle again...

Maybe they can round it off with an outbreak of Legionnaires?
