Its a difficult conversation to have but one the hip hop community must have.
Bout to read this. From earlier KRS comments I kinda thought he was trying to seperate the accused from the Legacy. Which is hard to do until a few generations have passed.
We do that for shyt loads of people but not whilst potential victims are still alive.
And if dude is/was a paedo it has no bearings on Hip-hop
Most would consider Jay Z the top dude in the game and dude sold a worl'of drugs.
Like many, I know peeps who sold drugs in a much smaller capacity. Not all them fiends are alive or free today. If said fiend drops dead owing money or goes to the pen with a bill still outstanding, the family are paying that bill one way or another, so the misery is multiplied.
So if you sold bricks in the 80's 90's you can look at any documentary to see what damage that did.
That has no bearing on Hip-Hop culture.
So if the accused is found guilty, we can say fukk him, what we cant do is write him out of the history books.
Yes, it means we have an ugly truth in the origins of the culture, but its one of many, many of which we have come to, if not agree with, accept as fact.
Best we accept that or end up like other groups and try and hide or at worst justify or equivocate in public.
