I worked in a veterans nursing home for 5 years. If we gonna be really real, fukk it, i dont even want to put them words online.

I will say this,

I lost count of how many families just dropped their elders off never to come back to visit.

I lost count on how many underpaid and unhappy cna's didnt give a fukk about patients well being.

At least 10 times i had patients ask me to kill them.

At least 10 times patients told me they would rather be in jail.

This is so depressing to hear. I would never put my fam in a nursing home.

Both my grandmothers are gone :to: The one on my mom's side passed before I was born and my dad's mother passed in 2017. Almost three years later I still feel like I'm just waiting for it to truly, fully "hit" me. Ever since she passed, my grandfather lives alone so at least every other day (if not everyday) I call just to check up on him and make sure he's okay, if I can't go up there to actually visit him (just talked to him yesterday as a matter of fact). I try to bring him little stuff like fruits and stuff to help keep him stay up, especially with corona going around. He's only getting older after all.....:to:

Didn't mean to go on a tangent like that but I guess all I'm tryna say is to check up on your peoples brehs. Do what you can to help them. Cause nobody can care for em like you can. Besides, our elders should be treasured anyway. All that wisdom :ohlawd:

Yeah man,

To see how appreciative the old men were when i would talk them about sports and women. It was only thing they had to look forward to.

All they wanted was to chop it up a few minutes a day to feel alive.
