A song about being addicted and nearly dying on Codeine in the 60s. Lyrically is just..

This shyt is just:wow:. ... I mean she's talking about her addiction (true story) so maybe thats why it hasnt been sampled. However, damn I could have seen Future or somebody else flip this.

An' my belly is craving, I got shakin' in my head
I feel like I'm dyin' an' I wish I were dead
If I lived till tomorrow it's gonna be a long time
For I'll reel and I'll fall and rise on cod'ine
An' it's real, an' it's reel, one more time

Well, when I was a young girl, I learned not to care
Off whiskey and frolic I often did swear
My mother and father said whiskey's a curse
But the fate of their baby was a million times worse
An' it's real, an' it's reel, one more time

Stay away from the cities, stay away from the towns
Stay away from the men pushin' the codeine around
Stay away from the stores where the remedy's supplied
For better your pain than be caught on cod'ine
An' it's real, an' it's reel one more time

You'll forget you're a woman, you'll forget about men *Had her wanting girls*
Try it just once and you'll try it again
You'll forget about living, you'll forget about time
And you'll live off your days as a slave to cod'ine
An' it's real, an' it's reel one more time

But if I die tomorrow, still one thing I've done
I've heeded the warning I got when I was young
My one satisfaction that comes when I think
Is I'm living my life without bendin' to drink
An' it's real, an it's reel one more time

An' my belly is craving, I got shaking in my head
I feel like I'm dyin' an' I wish I were dead
If I live till tomorrow, that'll be a long time
For I'll reel and I'll fall and I'll die on cod'ine
An' it's real, an' it's reel, one more time
An' it's real, an' it's reel, one more time

Skimming youtube on my downtime lately. There is a goldmine of "Folk" music from that era that Hip Hop hasnt tapped into yet.

It’s a reason Folk isn’t and has never been a popular genre to sample in hip hop. Instrumentation to bare a basic and the melodies don’t be too pleasing to the ears

I hear you breh. However, I also think one day an artist(s) are gonna crack the code and people are gonna wonder why it didnt.

"The city where we live might be quite large, but the circle is small" *image it flipped*:ohlawd:

It would have to be somebody really skilled lyrically to flip this...would hate to hear somebody mumbling all over it
