LONDON (AP) — Iceland will be the first country in the world to make employers prove they offer equal pay regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexuality or nationality, the Nordic nation's government said Wednesday — International Women's Day.

The government said it will introduce legislation to parliament this month, requiring all employers with more than 25 staff to obtain certification to prove they give equal pay for work of equal value.

Also how do you think the government plans on determining 'equal value'? Does merely having the same job title suggest equal value? Don't some work harder and/or bring more to the table than others?

What you and @DEAD7 fail to realize is that if individuals have the same duties then they should be paid the same. So if two people have different responsibilities that should not be all that hard to prove? Should it? You're putting the burden on the party in the best position to prove it. Moreover, if someone works harder or brings more to the table then they're not doing the same work then are they? And why would you hire someone to be lazy as fukk? You can just remove that person. Please name some companies where this is occurring? Surely if legislation is being called for it must be rampant in size and/or impact with several examples being easy to come by
