People talk about Boyz in da Hood, Friday, Menace to Society, He Got Game....and I'm not saying those movies don't deserve praise. They absolutely do.

above the rim is not even in the same league as those movies you mentioned, and this is coming from someone who used to watch it religiously as a kid. the story is just too ridiculous.
Kyle Lee Watson might single-handedly be the reason I never passed the ball as a kid.
It's my favorite basketball movie of all-time.

might not have the best acting ever and the storyline might be stupid or ridiculous but off nostalgia factor alone i think i will still like it. plus it's one of the better ball movies i remember from that time or ever IMO.
