Lived there for some years. Great social city with a lot of stuff to do. Filled with college students and young professionals. Mostly white and Latino city though. East Austin is where the black and latino stay. Its an extremely segregated city. Some of the burbs are more integrated though. Overall, a very good city for a young professional.

You'll love it out there mane. Born and Raised in austin. The night life is fun friday-sunday you'll be able to get into something on 6th street and if not you can go on 5th and 4th street to find the sophisticated older women looking to get dikked down. If you like white hoes their all over the place in different shapes and sizes(Interracial dating is quite normal). Food is great and there's all different styles. Austin is known for tacos specifically... I don't know why but when you get a chance check out Torchys Tacos and get the Brush Fire taco(my favorite) if you like hot stuff.
If your into black women their around and their looking and searching for single successful black men. I'd almost say its a epidemic in austin with black women looking for successful single black men.
The live music is one of the biggest draws to austin. If and when you have time check out sxsw and keep informed on when your favorite artists are on tour most likely they'll be making a stop here.
Don't get me started on traffic its horrible and during rush hour avoid I-35 if you can it will always be backed up.
The city is growing and its growing extremely fast with more people moving to texas by the thousands.

I'ma give u the real deal about austin. Nothing pessimistic, nothing optimistic. Been here since i was born, 22 now. Went to college here as well.
Austin can be a really cool place but also a very isolated and small minded place. Which is ironic because we are known for how liberal we are. But here's the thing, Austin has a great social life IF by social life you mean bars and clubs. As with most cities like ATX, 6th is such a main attraction that it leaves most of the other things to do out of the loop. I love DT but after going multiple times a week for years, it's pretty wack. You start seeing the same faces a lil too much, only about 10 bars are actually live IMO.
A lot of 18-20 year olds clogging up dirty 6th. Thats in the street and in the bars (fake ids). So watch your back out here cuz these kids will get black out durnk and try to fight you over something dumb to look cool with their homies. The main thing here bro is you gotta surround yourself with good people especially if you are black. Otherwise it gets lonely out here. Best to meet you a variety of ppl to chill with. I have my day one homies who don't do much. Got some other homies who go out and do it wrecklessly big, and of course I got people out here that are really into kick backs. It's dope to have the choices to choose from and keep it in rotation.
To all the black , young posters on here; what are yall doing for fun on the weekends? Fill the cat in on where he can meet some good people and build a solid social circle.
