Looking to cop a used sedan that'll get me to and from work, is good on gas and doesn't need too much as far as maintenance is concerned. Accords hold their value well so I can get a newer Altima for the same price I'd use to the older Accord. Altimas have transmission problems from what I've heard though.

Budgeting like 8k. Not tryna spend too much on a car at the moment.

Any advice on how to proceed? I've been using cars(dot)com for most of my research. Will be going to a couple dealerships in the coming weeks to see they have on file. I"m looking to get something at around 100K miles with the hope of riding it to 175K or there about.

there really is no wrong answer. sometimes you have good luck with cars sometimes you dont. I would feel equally comfortable getting either from your description of the two.

Go with a Honda Accord. Hondas are more reliable than Nissans:

Hondas are traditionally more reliable than Nissan but there is still some subjectivity with all vehicles. Like Toyota was king for a while until they had those issues with some of their cars (Prius?) Anyway, he said an OLDER Honda vs a newer Nissan for the same price, to me in that situation there is no advantage. I have no dog ultimately as I have owned both Honda and Nissan, but I prefer Nissan after the 90's because Honda just got too fukking expensive, Toyota too. Nissan gives you really good value for what you pay. Its not like Altima is a new model either. I have 2010 Armada and had no problems out of the ordinary wear and tear. I sold (and still do occasionally) used cars. The key is with any used car is to get one you feel is in the best condition. Have it checked out, pre-purchase inspection and test drive and look for any problems yourself. If you dont find anything go for it. Try to find out from someone who has access the true value of the car. Black Book and NADA are best. (not Blue Book :scust:)

Thanks G. From what I’m seeing, for example you’ll see a 2015 Altima for the same price as a 2013 Accord or there about.

My uncle sells and ships cars to Nigeria and he said I could look into copping a salvaged title to save even more cash. But at that point I’d really need a mechanic to thouroghly vet the car.

I’m looking to be in something by next weekend. My current car is on its last legs.

Salvaged titles are way too risky unless you have a hook up with someone who has dealer's license that can get you something from regular auction or salvage auction.....or you can get your hands on a vehicle where you KNOW there is nothing wrong with it, for example....my friend had like a Benz R350 that he got a killer deal on, paid 9k for it when it was worth a lot more....someone hit him in a minor crash and messed up his front bumper. The car was totaled and insurance paid him out 13k. so he caked off, but I asked him why the fukk didnt attempt to buy the vehicle back and he was pissed he didnt try.

in 2018 I saw a Nissan Sentra at the auction, it was like a 2016 or 2017 and the shyt looked like it just came off the lot, but it had a salvage title, I looked it up and it had been flooded but whoever fixed it up had the shyt looking showroom. I wouldve copped it if I knew someone that needed a car at the time personally for a good ass price. I cant remember how much it sold for but it wasnt much, I would guess and say no more than 7k. I dont buy salvaged to resell to random customers though.

tbh with you, the very best think to do if you dont have hookup like that, is to search for what you want on Autotrader....it may be a good ways drive but it can be well worth it. I live in NC and drove to West Virginia to purchase my Armada....got the shyt for 13k and book on it was 19k. I mean if I got rid of it now, the trade in value is still about 3k above what I paid for it. So I wouldnt have a problem unloading it if I wanted to.

Altima's are ok, I had one when they first came out. Havent really messed with them since, but ran across some at auctions that I started to pull trigger on. I actually like Rogue's better if you like crossovers. They have the same engines. Nothing wrong with Altima's at all though and if you dont mind coupes, you may be able to save by going that route since coupes are harder to move.

Salvaged/rebuilt cars ain’t that bad. Damage could’ve been light as hell. I’d look up the before pics using the vin (or lot number if they give that to you) on copart or one of them car sites that save records of salvaged car sales.

They do take a little longer to sell though.
