Indy is actually under the cap, so. they could easily fit him in they really wanted to. The Lakers should have that offer until the trade deadline and call Indy again as there's no way that they'd let Turner walk for free. In fact, it's actually a gamble on Indy's part to hold onto Turner considering that he's an expiring and got injury at the trade deadline last season.

Indy should actually consider the Lakers offer for that very reason.

Well now if Turner’s not there they’re super thin in the front court. Without Turner it’s just Jackson and Smith with Goga on his final year.

Turner isn't going to be there for decent amounts anyways as he's injury prone and has missed a good chunk of the past two seasons. Plus everyone in the league knows that they don't want him, so it wouldn't surprise me if teams circled back around at the trade deadline and try to swindle him from Indy on the cheap for that very reason.
