What is the fascination with trading in games and the GameStop Model. The very second after you buy a game from GameStop for 60 bucks the value drops usually by more then half.
In the digital generation why is it so important to have a disc? Needing to have a CD to play a game is rediculous, if i still needed to have my cd's to listen to music I'd kill myself.
MS had alot of good ideas (and bad ones too) and they totally decided to do a 180 because the fanboys and internet trolls were pissed so they said the customers arent ready lets just keep it the way it is.

They should have just did what Apple did with itunes.
Model:
Device (Xbox One, ipod, mp3, ect)
Content(MS store, itunes, ect)

Someone do me a favor go to a Tower Records and buy me some records and tapes and cd's...oh wait thats right that store doesn't fukking exist anymore because we evolved and realized the model doesnt work anymore and there is a better way to get content.

GAMESTOP = TOWER RECORDS in 2-5 years!!

What y'all think?
Do you really need to have a physical disc?
Do you enjoy getting raped by gamestop when you "trade in" your games for some random made up value way less then the game is actually worth?

You have to remember Gaming is culture and trying to change that in one night won't happen. Gradual change will be needed and that means Microsoft slowly but surely add those digital features etc...

Gradual Change.

Music is way big then gaming industry/culture

Gradual change is because of weak minded people and people who are scared of change.

Lmao Music also had the bootleg culture which transformed easily to Digital.

If gamers wanted Digital they will go to PC but consoles will take time and with those B.S restrictions. Ain't nobody got time for that.

This is like Steve Jobs changing the technology industry with the Iphone but adding restrictions which compared to the competitors. Not going to work.

I don't care about the discs. But I understand that not everyone can download full length games. I've downloaded 20-30GB games on Steam. I don't think everyone in the country is ready for that yet. Let alone the world. I also think that I don't yet trust Microsoft and Sony to do justice to online only distribution. The burden on proof is on them to show me that they can provide competitive pricing even when they're not allowing anyone else to sell games.

i don't see why M$ and their minions act like everyone is trading in their games @ gamestop. how about people who sell them on craigslist or ebay?

also, comparing gaming to music is inherently faulty. when i download a drm-free mp3 and put it on a usb/cd/hdd, it's mine forever. but i have mp3s that i enjoyed back in the day that can't be authenticated anymore because the servers are down. losing your right to games you already purchased isn't progress, it's a step backwards. only the steam generation would be content with it. gamers that's been playing since nes/sega/atari know this is some bullshyt

The difference is:

With physical copies you own a licensed copy of the game

With digital shyt you pay for the privilege to use it -- if you fukk up or they change their terms -- that privilege is REVOKED.

That's where I am with it. I'm old enough to like owning what I purchase. The younger breed generally don't see that as a priority.

Exactly. When it comes to PC gaming, even though the sales are digital, there are multiple ways to get said game. Hell, even if I buy a digital game from Amazon, I can still load it into Steam. Thats the only way I see games getting cheaper for the consumer. If you leave it to Sony and MS to sell games and people get used to that model and they thrive, there would be no reason for them to drop the prices.

Nah, this isn't true at all. Let's say a AAA exclusive is released and nobody else is buying it at the full $60...they can't just sit there with their arms crossed like...NOPE, THE PRICE IS $60! :wtb:

Do I think prices will drop as fast as steam? Nah, but they will drop steadily over time. They actually would drop faster if it was all digital IMO. Simple economics

Yes disc are a big deal to me Cause then I actually feel like I own what I bought, which in turn means I can do whatever I want with that game because I own it.

Yes Im still buying music cds because the massive amount of music that is digital for purchasing isnt anywhere near the sound quality you get from a cd.

Compare 320kbps vs WAV or any other lossless format its a difference that I can notice
