Adam Silver recently did a sit-down interview with a radio program and talked about and acknowledged the deficiencies with NBA All-Star Weekend and particularly the All-Star Game. He stressed how the players WANT to have fun but seemingly lack the will to do “work” during what is supposed to be their time off.

He suggested instituting a four-point shot AND/OR a ten-point shot, to be made available only in the final minutes of a quarter (or a half).

He THEN gave out his Twitter address so that people can send him ideas (apparently he was serious about that).

Then on NBA TV, Steve Smith suggested that the leading vote-getters in the East and West basically act as “team captains” and then choose the rest of their squads, like a pick-up game. I actually like this idea, you could have them pick from a POOL of eligible all-stars and the winning team gets, like, $100K or something.

So how should they fix the dunk contest? SHOULD they "fix" the three point contest?

Bottom line….as corny as this sounds, you’ve GOT to incentivize these fools. That’s the only way you’re going to be entertained come that one weekend in February every year…..
