He's off to a great start as the commish :leon:

Adam Silver would like to made adjustments to the NBA schedule to allow players more rest and to reduce the number of preseason games.

The NBA extended the length of the All-Star break this season, but it resulted in a surge of four games in five nights for teams.

"We'll come as close as we can to eliminating the four-in-five formula. We think we can make a dramatic reduction," Silver said. "We hear everyone loud and clearly. It's a function of number of days in the schedule."

Silver said the league had been in talks with television partners TNT and ESPN about allowing more games to take place on Thursdays and Sundays, when the schedule is pared back for national television purposes.

multi millionaires complaining about fatigue playing basketball 35 minutes (if theyre important) two days in a row :snoop:

dog it's a lot of fatigue going into that. travel, practice, plus games. that's exerting a lot of energy. the body is the body and can only handle so much

i hear you but i'm sure that even just playing at the gym at 90% youll find yourself sore as hell the next day. these dudes play at 100% and are playing at the highest level so it is only fair that they are worried about soreness, injuries and ultimately their careers.

not to mention the practicing and traveling in between.

I can only imagine how it must have felt to be a center in 2000, look on the schedule to see you'll be playing the 2nd night of a back to back vs the Lakers with 380lbs prime Shaq.

its effed up.

you don't realize how much physicality / injury risk goes into the game of basketball until you actually lace up and go on the court. Playing in the post, boxing out, jumping for rebounds, hard fouls, moving laterally on defense, diving for loose balls.

landing awkwardly after contesting a shot or going for a rebound can have you with herniated disks, sore knees, ankles and shyt if you're not careful enough.

I imagine Stern knew about these potential changes, but laid back and let Adam have it so that he could make his mark. I hope it all happens - schedule, ads on jerseys, betting, and that other one I'm forgetting too.

Plus Silver can easily learn how not to handle things by looking to Goodell as an example.

The bigs still got it bad, one night you gotta see 295lbs Pekovic, then 280lbs Drummond, 290lbs Al Jeff, 290lbs Hibbert.

it doesn't matter how much money they make, they're still human with human bodies. travel fatigue is a bytch. 45 min drive or not.
you can look at a schedule and when a team playing a 2nd game in a row know they're bout to have the lowest effort. happens all the time. it's why a lot of tnt games are blowouts cause one team usually plays that wednesday
