His lawyers didn't contest the lesser charge. I guess it wasn't as bad as it looked.

By forcing players to stop playing just because they are CHARGED, they are also forcing players into plea deals like this. Charges alone should not mandate a suspension from the league.

Meh, he probably would've taken a no contest plea to a misdemeanor regardless.
Charges alone shouldn't result in suspensions tho. I blame the player's union.

Maybe he would have taken the deal. Bear in mind the original reporting (at the time I posted) it sounded like a very different deal.
The more important part is this: In the American Criminal Justice system, unless a judge finds that you should not be provided bail, then you are free to live your life unless and until there is a conviction. For the NFL or a team to suspend a player based on a charge is a due process violation.
Even if there is a conviction, the nature of the conviction should determine what the public response should be.
