that thread title sounds dramatic, but real shyt. hip hop dreams have ruined my brothers life:

my brother is 36 years old, still lives with my parents, no job, debt up to his eyeballs, no drug addiction, no alcoholism, no kids - just a desire to be an "artist"

in high school, this cat was top of the class, college bound, business ownership skills recognized by the city - whole 9.

he goes to college and becomes obsessed with rap, this was 1999, it's been downhill ever since.

none of his videos do numbers
none of his songs have done numbers
people like him as a person but they don't necessarily like his music and he gets these two confused

so i'm basically wondering how we should handle this situation moving forward into 2016

i've thrown my hands up years ago, he's a grown man
we got into an argument so bad one time that I knew i was done w/the whole shyt.
he's so fukked up that at age 36 if he wanted to start back in the work place, he'd have to start at the bottom and he did this all to himself

Posts some links to his material.

can't do that for 2 reasons 1) he really does sound bad and I'm not about to have yall go in on that dude. he's still my family.
2) somebody here may know him, he's never heard me tell him his music is bad. this shyt isn't on here for a week, it's on here forever.
:mjlol: srry but your bro is a fool after 24 if u aint poppin stop, not everyone is meant to be a rapper. you all as his family failed shlda stopd dat shyt early on; but he can still turn his life around tell him to look into some cert programs:yeshrug:

hold up now nikka. It's muthafukkas across this whole country out here older than my brother still holding on to that rap dream, fall back:comeon:

Also, I came from a functional household, we look out for each other and support one another - my bad if my pops didn't leave my moms to raise us on her own :yeshrug:

they let the nikka stay there and support his dream. they haven't told that dude to stop, I've eluded to him that he needs to move behind the scenes more but he wants to be the star, the dude holding the mic...he really truly believes he has talent and people want to hear his music. it's crazy

What do your parents think? Why are they allowing him to live at home @ 36?

its my mother mostly, she ain't about to have that dude out there in the streets like my uncles were.
I'm not about to argue w/my mother and my father ain't about to argue w/his wife.

if it were up to me i'd have the nikka in a hotel or something one of those weekly rate hotels. i've got my own shyt and he knows not to even ask to stay here. :birdman:

if you looking for someone to blame

look right at your parents:jbhmm:

it is their responsibility to teach dude common sense and prepare him for life
they didnt

it is their burden to bare

my parents were telling me at a young age that after high school I was leaving the house and never coming back
so I better be ready

Hey man, somebody's gotta hold down the fort.

Just make sure he keeps the house clean and you're Gucci, my dude.
