been saying from jump that they had the blueprint and weren't going anywhere.

they won over the fans and made themselves the cool promotion, long before they even had their first PPV, let alone the debut of dynamite.

plenty of promotions have outclassed the WWE in quality within the past 20 years, but have nothing to show for it.

here comes AEW, beating NXT in ratings and not even having the better show. beating a WWE show while not even having a superior product is unheard of. I mean, even WCW had to have a WAY better product in order to surpass the WWE.

yea. NXT isn't the WWE's flagship, but still.
also, I think AEW's ratings would be higher going up against raw or smackdown. im not saying that they would defeat those shows just yet, but they wouldn't have to split their audience like they do with NXT.

Its funny cause if they didn’t have a disdain for tag team wrestling then the Bucks probably sign 5 years ago.

Instead they stayed the course and showed Kenny and Cody that staying on outside of WWE was still viable.

The goal isn’t to compete with WWE. The goal is to compete with all of the other television shows.

this isn’t the “Monday Night Wars”. Wrestling can be watched on your phone months after the event.

Any wrestling promotion other than WWE isn’t truly competing with WWE because most fans watch both in one way or the other. The goal is to have a viable television ready product that advertisers will get behind so the station will want to play your programming. AEW has figured out that formula for TNT :yeshrug:

im not arguing any of the stuff that yall are saying.

but lets not act like they weren't already a success months before they began airing on TNT.

and lets not act like they aren't competing with the WWE either.

maybe we are defining “competing” differently.

are you talking ratings?
Are you talking fan attention?
revenue?
Implied quality?

what does competing mean to you? Because like I said the goal of any TV show is to advertise. They aren’t worried about WWE, they are trying to sell ads and make money.

mind you, fans don’t have to choose in 2020. They can watch all wrestling online, DVR, etc. the days of feds actually competing for attention are over. It’s now just a matter of taste :yeshrug:

Bingo. I suppose I haven't spoken on the subject during all of these debates, because all along I've figured that most of the people that watch AEW are like me: it's not a matter of one company or the other and the ratings will never really reflect what is actually going on.

I watch AEW live over NXT, because I know that I can just DVR NXT while Dynamite is on OR watch it on Hulu, which isn't an option for Dynamite yet.

So long as they remain profitable and bring eyes to TNT, they're good. They're nowhere near their crescendo yet and you kind of get the feeling that people are going to be putting the pressure on them when the company's really only in "Season 1". Let them cook and be an alternative.
