I wonder why they didn't allow the Brits to buy the giraffe, I think that they should be penalized for this.

If you're going to run a zoo then you should know mainly that the most important thing is the well being of the animals, and if you kill a healthy animal then you've violated the ethics of a zoo, no matter how you want to think.

Also, Geoffrey being sterile is probably best, as if getting a giraffe wasn't enough, they needed certainty that they'd be able to get another one, but what giraffe wants their baby giraffe growing up in a zoo
