You obviously don't know 50. His never been a artist that really copies what others are doing and whats hot and his from New York and represents New York. That sound may not be big like it use to be, but it doesn't mean every artist should switch up and change for some people that have moved on. A lot of people still like that sound. A lot of artists today get by with fancy production and fans seem to care more about the beats than anything else. 50's never been like that. My lil cousin who loves his southern music says to me he doesn't like 50 Cent because his beats are wack lol.

He tweeted a while ago something like "I'm making music i like if you don't like it don't fukk with me"

50 Cent Admits Retirement Threat Was Just to Sell Records
How could you deceive us so, Curtis Jackson? Who can we trust if not you?

Remember the epic battle that took place five years ago between 50 Cent and Kanye West? Yeah, probably not, so here's a refresher: Both 50 and Kanye dropped massively anticipated albums on the same day and in the heat of the moment, 50 Cent promised to quit rap if 'Ye bested him in first-week album sales.

"If Kanye West sells more records than 50 Cent on September 11, [2007], I’ll no longer write music. I’ll write music and work with my other artists, but I won’t put out any more solo albums," Fif told SOHH.com.

Well, that week came, the records dropped and Kanye's Graduation outsold 50's Curtis by 266,000 copies. As you might have noticed in the five years since then, 50 Cent did not, in fact, make good on his promise to retire. So recently, XXL got Fif to look back on that threat to call it a day and asked, "Wha happened?"

If I want to hear a NY MC, I would listen to Nas.

How is Ross getting better and better with each record when he still hasn't outdone Teflon Don or Rich Forever creatively or buzzwise? :dwillhuh:

His steam is gone for the most part. Don't let blog posts fool you: this album doesn't really have any big records yet. Not a very high interest level, at least not compared to his prior records. Sales-wise: Trilla did 700K, Deeper Than Rap did 439K, Teflon Don has done 724K, GFID has done 565K. And creatively, in my opinion anyway (and the most that I've heard), Teflon Don and Rich Forever are his best. Teflon Don is his best album because it has him at his peak in terms of both the luxury rap songs and the street joints, and Rich Forever really just established Ross as a heavyweight (no pun intended). Mastermind has less pitfalls than GFID, but GFID has MUCH higher peaks. It's listenable, but not many memorable songs. I'm a huge fan of his, and I was really excited about this record, but this hasn't really hit me at all. It seems generally less well-received than TD or RF.

Also, I think 50 Cent has been taking more risks with his sound than Ross has lately - they just haven't been hitting because 50's brand isn't cool to people anymore. His song with Adam Levine, his song with Alicia Keys, and even his song with Kendrick sound different from his usual stuff. He's been experimenting, but nothing has stuck with fans yet.

BTW, I think Ross' buzz has died down some because fans these days just demand more from that artists in terms of personality and vulnerability. In a world of social media and reality show overload, most consumers want to feel like they're either identifying with someone who seems like they can relate to, or they want to see someone's real life. Everyone sees Ross as fictional and detached anyway, so when you have the lesser quality music to go along with that, you end up with decreased interest. Compared to say a J. Cole or something - I don't think the quality of Cole World or Born Sinner are out of this world, but people feel like they're a real part of what he's doing and they can relate to him, so that makes his music better to them.

You are all missing the simple fact that most hot rappers have a 5 year period....

DMX - 1998 till 2003
50 - 2002 till 2007
T.I. - 2003 till 2008
Jeezy - 2005 til 2010
Ross - 2006 till 2011

Todays climate is all about strategic alliances aka The Super Friends...50 is all about alienation and confrontation...Nothing illustrates this better than this video.....
