i see what you're saying but i don't think they meant it that way on the song. you're talking more about appearances. if maintaining appearances is part of the con than he's still crooking.

the way i interpret the song, i see it more like, if you choose to go into wrong doing in a certain game, you either commit 100% or don't go in at all. cause if you're not all in mentally, you'll find yourself in situations where people who are more in it then you will see you as food. they'll see your weakness as their opportunity. you never know when you'll be tested.

It's a mentality not a time prerequisite (though the two do have some overlap). Basically the halfway crook wants to sell on the block but doesn't have the heart to bang on it if a another crew wants to take it from him (no shame in that cuz I ain't about that life either)
