This is what they should've done for the Summer of Punk storyline. Damn, WWE, how do you fukk these things up. 
I'd really like to know what went on behind the scenes when they were making these decisions.

True. But due to Vince not thinking outside the box, it hurt the angle drastically. They had something special on their hands. I've never seen an angle where a wrestler wins the biggest prize, quits because his contract rant out and holds the title hostage, and then goes and defends it all over the world. Then after a few months, he returns to the company to face the newly crowned champion. I'm sure it's been done, but I can't recall it ever being done. I know the Flair coming to WWF in 92 was somewhat similar, but he didn't defend the belt.
Just think, we could talking right now about how awesome that angle would've been in retrospect had it been done right. Oh well. Vince drops the ball for umpteenth time (and there's nothing anyone can do about it).
