Despite being credited for creating more adult-oriented comics like Watchmen and V for Vendetta, Moore expressed concern that “hundreds of thousands of adults [are] lining up to see characters and situations that had been created to entertain the 12-year-old boys — and it was always boys — of 50 years ago.”

“I tend to think that, no, comics hadn’t grown up. There were a few titles that were more adult than people were used to. But the majority of comics titles were pretty much the same as they’d ever been. It wasn’t comics growing up. I think it was more comics meeting the emotional age of the audience coming the other way.”

The internet has made the collective standards of self awareness, emotional maturity and general overall demeanor drop dramatically.

Media choices and vox populi reflect this regression perfectly as people are super anxious whilst pretending not to be in a hyper-sexualized nightmare that demands perfection at all costs and offers dopamine hits in return.

The Idiocracy Effect...

Inspired to push the pen and created this:

"What shrinks on one side expands on the other as one strives for balance and the immense uptick in superhero consumption (which was originally a niche aimed at prepubescent boys to scratch that fantasy itch of stepping into the shoes they wished to walk in and feel powerful) is a blatant symptom of this. Look around at the current generation upwards of twenty six and you’ll see exactly what I mean about the regression as the net has turned the world into a High School popularity contest with its bands and cliques. The nerds finally get their revenge as they make up the blue haired Cancel gang, the beautiful are praised for just existing and way, way down at the end are the intellectuals. Its interesting that people don’t want solutions. They just want their worldview confirmed no matter how miserable it feels to live. Or how much they’ll deny the truth of this as the manufacture proof whilst lying to themselves.

Bread and circuses."

I can buy it especially when you see the type that loves this shyt the most like the quartering, but even a lot of sci fi and fantasy dorks are little weirdo fascists.

I think it's more just that gen x and down filled with a bunch of grown ass children more than anything and I am counting myself in that

The superhero film phenomenon was definitely something that came to rise in a post-9/11 world. Given that tragedy and impact I could see why some people would cling to soldiers, nationalism, and larger than life figures i.e. superheroes.

Alan could have a point.

This is nonsense and doesn't take into account the fact that people can enjoy superhero fare but still be conscious to what's going on in the world. Most of my friends are into Marvel, and we still have lenghthy conversations about politics, philosophy, economics, etc. There may be some sort of meta commentary to be had about the rise of the popularity of superhero movies, but to me it boils down to Marvel created blockbusters in the same tradition of Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jurassic Park, etc. that people were drawn to. It's pretty much that simple.
