If you have not yet played Time Magazine’s 2010 Game of the Year, now is your final chance. Remedy’s Alan Wake is going offline from stores. This is due to the expiration of music license agreements for the game (Alan Wake’s American Nightmare is not affected).

For 48 hours, you can buy Alan Wake including DLCs and Alan Wake’s American Nightmare at a 90% discount on Steam.

If you already own Alan Wake – like the majority of the gaming population out there – you have nothing to worry about. The game will continue to work for you.

This is why digital future has its drawbacks.
well this would also affect the production of new physical copies. but they haven't been making new physical copies for a minute anyway since it's a 'last gen' game

the "drawback" here is that digital games are available for so long that weird licensing issues like this can arise

it's gonna be hard to find a new copy of Alan Wake in a store

physical products can be recalled, removed from shelves, etc, if issues arise

the digital version will be preserved... by pirates. yes, that is outside the commercial market, but so are used games

Amazon only has third parties selling used copies. or third parties selling a sealed new copy for a ridiculous price, which is also part of the used market

I could make a bunch of Steam accounts with just Alan Wake and sell those. but again, piracy is a simpler solution. I don't think most people consider piracy to be that bad if the game is no longer being sold
