The reason why he sold it for as low as he did is because
1. they weren't worth much more than that at the time
2. every time he tried to sell it, the prospective buyer wanted to relocate the team, so he was down to take less if it meant he got a pinky swear that the team would stay there.
3. other possibly buyers saw his stupid 3 year plan to buy in increments and were like
lemme buy and get out of the way.also, they have the oldest arena in the NBA other than MSG which got a billion dollar renovation. The next step is getting a new arena which Glen doesn't even think is necessary but the league does.

Lmao I dunno breh. You might be giving him too much credit. When could he have sold for more than 2B? Also I don’t think billionaires operate off emotion in the way your 2nd paragraph suggests. He’s always been a less than ethical businessman. He started all this shyt probably in the hopes they would add a cpl hundred million extra just to make him go away.

Larry Ellison was interested in buying the team from him, but with the goal of moving them to San Jose. Point is, other buyers offered more money, but he turned them down because they wanted to relocate the team and he didn't want that. That's how A-Rod got in the door, by convincing him that they wanted to keep the team in the area.
As for not operating off emotion, Glen bought out a minority owner just to still have percentage points ahead of them prior to the final payment. Their whole relationship disintegrated because right as Marc and Lore were gonna make the final payment (this whole layaway plan was Glen's idea), the team had its best season and everyone started treating Marc and Alex as if they had already bought the team. Glen banned them from the locker room area (mind you, they're minority owners with 40% of the team as is) because the games would end and they'd all run to congratulate them and not Glen even though Glen literally sits next to the bench. He took their seats, to where A-Rod would buy floor seats directly across from Glen so Glen would have to look at him. It got really petty and the root of it all is that he never wanted to sell it, but his family doesn't want the team and he's 83 and half past dead, so he took what he could get.
