Alistair Overeem came into the UFC with a lot of hype behind him and when he stopped Brock Lesnar is his tracks, many felt he was on his way to the UFC Heavyweight Title. Until he failed a drug test.
When he returned in December following his suspension to face Antonio Silva, his confidence may have played a part in getting knocked out in the 3rd round by the big Brazilian and now with a match up scheduled for August 17th and Travis Browne, Overeem is looking to get back on the road to the title:
“Yes absolutely (this is a fresh start),” Overeem told Bleacher Report. “I believe that both Browne and myself are top ranked fighters and the winner of this fight will be one step closer in getting a title shot, so in that sense I know this fight can put me right on track as I still have one goal in life and that’s becoming the UFC heavyweight champion.
“I know there are more fighters going after that number one spot but with the nature of the sport anything can happen. So my main focus is my next fight and afterwards we will see who or when I will be fighting next.”

I wish we got to see the very end of k1 run Reem fight Cain. The one that beat Todd Duffy at Dream.

I'm huge believer in the post 32 years old drop off. I put a ton of stock in that number myself. I'm a Reem fan but I'm not sure how he'll match up with some of these younger guys like Browne.

You dudes is really sleeping on Browne. I can see him being a problem and he will KO Overeem
:patrice: idk im weary of dudes coming off injury..Reem was taking it to bigfoot until he started acting like an a$$hole. Should be a good fight.

I fux with Reem, but this nikka don't realize he's not wearing K-1 gloves in the Octagon. His striking defense is horrible, plus he doesn't have a great chin.

Still beats Browne tomorrow though :youngsabo:

He's so used to walking people down then lighting them up as a HW that when he meets strong resistance it's like :dwillhuh: lemme find a way to lose real quick. Him and BJ Penn have that trait, if they aren't front running they get bewildered out there

As much as I like Reem I'd still argue that a healthy Brock would've taken him down and did basically what he did to Heath Herring he got his hands on Brock at a perfect time

He missed his window to be a champ during the drug test failure. Cats know what to do with super hulk Reem now so he's in a tough spot going forward

My original post was gonna be "Then he better break into Cain's house while he's asleep and take it", but then I noticed the date of the OP :pachaha:

I wonder what's next for him, I'd like to see him and Roy go at it

I think it's over for Overeem as a championship contender. He had his chance and blew it with the suspension and then getting knocked out. I'm all for redemption stories but I don't know about this one.
