Poll: Denver Broncos top Dallas Cowboys as America's favorite team

The Denver Broncos have topped the Dallas Cowboys as the most popular NFL team, according to a Harris Poll asking fans to name their favorite team in early September.

Following a Super Bowl loss in February, Peyton Manning and the Broncos improved from third to first for the first time since the poll began in 1998. Denver has seen its popularity increase from a low-point of 17th in 2011 before Manning joined the team.

Despite their best start since 2007, the Cowboys dropped out of the top spot for the first time since 2006. They were ranked fourth. It is only the second time in 14 polls that Dallas has not finished either first or second.

The New York Giants finished second and the Green Bay Packers came in third, while the Pittsburgh Steelers round out the top five.

Cowboys have the most fans, but also an exorbent amount of haters. you HAVE to pay attention to the cowboys. There is no inbetween like "oh they are ok." you either like them or hate them. hence the reason whty they have the highest rated games EVERY YEAR despite being mediocre.

The Dallas Cowboys’ comeback victory at the Seattle Seahawks gave Fox Sports a tie for its best overnight rating for a National Football League regular-season contest in 18 years.


The 19.2 metered market rating, as measured by Nielsen Media Research, tied for Fox’s best since 1996, Fox Sports said yesterday in an e-mailed news release.


The overnight rating was the best for an NFL regular-season game on any network since 2011, Fox said.
