Dude, hope isn't lost, per se. Remember, the American voting public at large are jackasses. They were upset with the countries direction and wanted change. So what did they do? Vote GOP. Ok fine.
During the next midterms, they will be upset with the GOP and do what? Vote dem. And repeat. So instead of actually changing anything, each of America's class of jackasses vote in parties whose politics have changed little from the last time they were upset with them.
We are doomed moreso because of emotional voting and rampant stupidity. Remember how bad the GOP was hated in the waning Bush 2 days? Look how people feel about Obama right now. They will likely make a hard GOP push with someone who will continue what Bush was pushing, and Obama continued, and NOTHING will get done.
Ask anyone you know about who they voted for and 90% of them will say the incumbents, cause they don't pay attention anyway. Consumers have the power to not buy shytty products, but voters seem to be captivated by the ability to hurt themselves and blame everyone else.
I believe things are going to get worse
