This sh*t is getting out of hand. Personally I've had Direct TV for years.. and watching live sports is the only reason I have cable/satellite.. And yes I'm familiar with First Row Sports and all the online options. I have xbmc as well but when It comes to live sports I don't want to deal with all that.
But anyways this is whats going on here in LA. And maybe you guys are dealing with some bullsh*t in your neck of the woods as well.
-The Dodgers just started their new Dodger Channel/Network this season and is only available on Time Warner Cable which only serves 30% of LA. Its not on Direct TV, Comcast, Dish Network, Cox, etc. 70% of LA hasn't seen one Dodger game on television this season unless it was a national game on Espn or Fox. Can't even watch this big Dodger/Giants series
-The 3 year old Pac 12 Network is not on Direct TV. We miss lots of Pac 12 football games and the Pac 12 basketball tournament
-The new SEC Network by espn so far will not be on Direct TV. Lots of big football games will be missed
The thing is when and if they add these channels, each channel raises your monthly bill by $3-5 bucks whether you like sports or not. When you look at it all these new channels and especially teams needing their own channel is so unnecessary. The Lakers started their own network two years ago and that was a huge fiasco out here. But when they did add the channel the bill went up $4 bucks and now they're a skeleton of what they used to be. We already had Fox Sports West and Prime Ticket(FSW 2) and a couple of local channels that carried all the teams out here but now everybody wants their own channel. No telling what the Clipps might do if and when this team is sold to Balmer cause their deal is almost up with Prime Ticket . I could only imagine.
Sorry for the rant.. But we're paying big cable bills and we're still missing games. its crazy

outside of the season, i just don't get it....plus like you said, having to have 3-5 sports channels to see your local/college team is stupid
so a person should go to a bar every sunday? or every person needs to drop their cable provider and sign up for Sunday Ticket on directv? that makes no sense.
