I hear that. When i got hurt I was so f ucking pissed at first...but then sat back and thought about it, and it comes with the sport

I gotta blue belt...I was just getting back into it too...literally a month back, and that shyt happened

Much respect on the Purple...where do u train at?

This is usually how most people get hurt imo...they had a lay off due to an injury or work...and then when they comeback into it, they do too much at once. Instead of just starting out doing only 3 days of rolling (and 3 drilling), they roll 6 days...overtain their bodies and then get hurt.

Either way, good luck on the recovery...your probably going to have to change your game a little to protect that knee...but it may make your jits better.

thats real stuff

I came back after probably a year lay off, and was trying to be smart about it. Out of shape for my standards, so I told myself "im just going to do the fundamental classes" for a few weeks to readjust my body. U basically just drill for an hour and a half...even though after if there were any blue belts and up id roll for a little bit with them

4 weeks in, One night I drove home from work....mind u its 30 minutes from where I live...Monday night, the "advanced class" is going on, which everyone was bothering me about going back to again since i was before i stopped

I drive past this place, 30 minutes to my house...got home, got bored, and said "I need to go start this now" and drove back for that class...the only difference is that the guys are better that go to this class...theres built in rolling (or sparring), and u train more live takedowns

Literally, the first drill after warms ups, is a takedown type thing. First to score points (ure in a group of 5)...ure allowed to pull guard but not close ure guard...first to score the other guy gets out and u rotate like that...u gotta pass, take the guy down..sweep...ect. I square up with another blue belt...we get our grips (its a gi class) and he comes in hard to shoot half guard..but high tho...and i felt it, so i planted my right leg and tried to push back (to establish that knee in the middle position) and my leg just popped. I dropped right away. drug myself to the side. The guys carried me over to the chairs and we got ice..i thought I tore my acl or something cause it was on the right side of my knee, but that pop or snap was my tibia breaking. Next door (it was in a sports complex with different studios, and there was a PT place) I hopped over there, bc the guy said if anyone ever got hurt to bring them over...got me on the table, started pulling everything around..he just thought I strained a tendon...and that "good news...u dont have to go to the emergency room...just strained something" which is what I wanted to hear

So im thinking awesome..not a big deal...trying to be tough, but I couldnt put any weight at all on the leg. Everyone said they would carry me to my car, but I said no bc it was "a strained tendon." I hop to my car...get in there, and drive home (30 minutes...it was my right leg, could barely push the pedal)

get home...took some weird anti-infection pill I had from hurting my ribs a few months earlier (which did nothing obviously)...drank a six pack of bud light (true story) and went to bed. called ortho next day..i get in there and an tell this guy its a strained tendon, but my knee is giant from swelling...like, really fuc king big..xray shows I shattered my tibial plateau into pieces

Surgery a week later, plate 6 screws...non weight bearing for 3 months..the atrophy was crazy. A year later my knee is a fukking joke...so they just took my hardware out, partial menisectomy..and a microfracture, because I broke my tibia on the knee joint, which f ucked my cartilage all up

so yea...Im laid up for..itll be 4 weeks wed. Not sure how long...and not sure what to even expect

Im drunk as hell right now..sorry for the long post...getting this shi t off my chest. Trying to pass the time until I can walk without pain hopefully :what:

"Listen I just broke the hell out of my knee....I have no idea what my insurance covers..but Im not going to be back to work for awhile"

I didnt have short term coverage so I had to move back in with my dad...Long term disability only kicked in if I was going to be off work a year plus...I only had like a month of sick days to use

They apparently had to hold on to my job ( I was teaching at the time)...so I went back after 4 months, earlier than I should have

I dont have kids....a mortgage...and my lease was up so I lucked out in that regard

damn bro...sorry to hear that fam. Sounds like you did some more damage by putting weight on it after the initial fracture...

I need my body for work and want to be able to provide for my family but I dont want to quite jiu jitsu

I'm doing strength and conditioning and praying that God allows me to stay healthy...

BTW, what gym do you train at? sounds like they have a good program over there

Pretty much semi retire from bball now. ankles are all completely busted. a few hairline fractures on both ankles caused by countless sprains about 10 years ago. Recommended surgery for a heel injury but a second opinion said the surgeon just wanted to cut me.:childplease:

I have a 5 a side kick bout weekly which i have to take it easy with but that seems to go ok. Cant be going all action like in my 20s anymore.:to:

Getting old is a bytch sometimes.:flabbynsick:
