Let me preface this by saying I'm not a huge Em fan... shyt, I haven't bought an album since MMLP

BUT

It looks as though a lot of posters are hating on this dude because he has a HUGE fan base that buys his albums. Haters will say oh, he only sells because he's white, he wouldn't be what he is if it wasn't for his skin color. Let's think of how many white rappers that are out nowadays

Mac Miller
Asher Roth
Action Bronson
Apathy
Maclemore
MGK

Why aren't these artists selling or as popular as Em? They're all white. What's the difference? Skill, simple and plain. Can/do any of these artists make music remotely as good as Em?

What it really comes down to is the black culture is hurt that a white boy made the impact he has in hip hop,. He will forever be remembered as one of the greats whether they like it or not and the KILLS them. They're trying to rewrite history but it's just gonna fall on deaf ears. "We don't believe you.." Talking about Eminem doesn't talk about anything. How does he not talk about anything? Have you even listened to his music? The connection he makes to his fans and how they can identify with him is THE REASON he's as big as he is.
Does he have his share of BS, sure...but he has a great amount of his personal life he puts in his music and he's done it throughout his career.

Does Em sell as much as he does because of his white fan base? Absolutely. But that white fan base also purchases 70% of all your favorite rappers albums as well.

One of the more ironic things I keep reading is Em is a shell of his former self. He's just selling because he's a brand. They may be true, but the same thing can be said for Jay-Z as well. But that doesn't stop his dikkriding stans stop from trying to put his recent on some pedestal...it's laughable.

You don't like his music? That's fine, it's not for everyone...but keep it moving. Trying to shyt on this man just makes you look like a scorned woman.

He doesn't sell JUST because he's white, he also captured the hearts of white America meaning he can burp and fart on a cd and they will buy it.

He will only be remembered as a great by white America...have yet to meet a nikka with a fukkin Em cd...foh!

There's cats on the Coli who hate everything :yeshrug:

It's the few vocal cats who have enough time and energy in their lives to make 3 threads everyday going at someone they don't like. Peep the Kendrick hate since he blew up. Let The Coli tell it and Gucci is The GOAT.

What is this "impact" that he's had on the culture?

Like if the MMLP never came out, what would be different about hip hop?

Well we can begin with being one of the most selling artists of the genre of all time..

Nas took one of his songs, flipped it on Jay... and you got everyone on messages boards calling each other a stan

He's inspired a whole slew of other white rappers that we see in the game right now... he had given white rappers the oppurtunity to be taken seriously after Vanilla Ice

He's been protested against and his music had created social dialogue around homosexuality...

He signed one of the most financially successful rappers of all time

shyt, he had Rakim saying he would be the Muhammed Ali of rap if he was black

1. This thread has been down already .. in fact I think it was made today.

2. We've been over this; nobody is denying that Eminem was good at one point. But people feel that his material the last 5+ years has been sub-par and if he were black he'd be irrelevant.

3. The reason those guys don't sell is cause they're either average or unknowns who aren't in Em's league.

There's white people who only listen to Eminem and have only listened to him and declare him GOAT. That shyt is disgusting to hear.

Or ''i dont want to hear about bytches or hoes or the n word'' little do they know Eminem rapped about worst shyt than that..

Get out of here with that. Those protests in the long run have had zero impact on his sales. He was just getting the same type of criticism that rappers were getting in the early and mid 90s. As for your point about social dialogue: :stopitslime:

I didn't say that impacted his sales...I said his music got people talking and protesting against him. When he and Elton John got together for that awards show, people near lost their minds!

If you wanna believe "He was just getting the same type of criticism that rappers were getting in the early and mid 90s". Then do you, but you'd be wrong

Em was making songs about killing women. If Pac made a song like that in the 90s, the scrutiny would be 100 times worse. Eminem got it pretty easy. So easy that when white people are gushing over Eminem in the comments for an article, no one even makes gratuitous references to that part of his career. Like they do for black entertainers.

1. I'm a productive member of society and I don't stay on this site

See Jay-Z

3. The reason those guys don't sell is cause they're either average or unknowns who aren't in Em's league.
Right, so they don't sell because they don't have the skill set he has, like MANY rappers

There's white people who only listen to Eminem and have only listened to him and declare him GOAT. That shyt is disgusting to hear.
If you know they only listen to Em and don't listen to anything else, why would you take their opinions seriously and cause you to act like a scorned woman?

Or ''i dont want to hear about bytches or hoes or the n word'' little do they know Eminem rapped about worst shyt than that..
Sure Em raps about that...I dont know one rapper who hasn't...but he also shares stories of his life, him battling depression, he shares deep intimate parts of his life that many rappers won't reveal
