I'm from nyAnd I see what you're saying, but I'd bet money that music/culture is more supported by outsiders than people who live throughout all of Chicago. There are plenty of communities on reddit/facebook, huge youtubers that do nothing but document and boost gang notoriety and the music they make. It's multifaceted.
