Honestly at the time I had mixed feelings about the shyt.
Stern was an a$$hole. I had zero problems with AI's wardrobes which for the most part were just oversized tshirts, fitted hats and sneakers and saggy baggy jeans. I always had (and still do) a thing against pants saggers but i also understand it's not my place to tell grown ass man how to dress.
There was a game I remember seeing a player on the sidelines. I believe it was a Nets player. Apparently he was on the injury list but was there to support his teammates or whatever. I remember homie had his sweatpants sagging so low that I thought to myself "cats like this that keep pushing the limits is gonna attract to much attention and get Stern to implement a dresscode, watch". The very next year the spotlight was on AI and then the dresscode shyt came down.
Around that time, Stephen Jackson who was still playing (for either GSW or IND i believe) made a comment which resonated with me a lot. It was about Stern trying to suppress someone's culture and expression with the dresscode. But if y'all recall Max's main beef wasn't the whole dresscode but specifically about a supposed ban on players wearing big chains. Which Jax was right. I think soon after they let go of the chain thing.
Thus why I prefer Silver as commissioner. He's still the owners puppet but he's more open to players input as opposed to Stern who tried to brute-force his way onto the players to appease white fans and his corporate sponsors/customers
