Yeah it's not like the WWE ever had guys like Gillberg, Eugene, Brooklyn Brawler, or other comedic jobbers who got some surprise success for some laughs.
People think Ellsworth just some kind of worthless comedic jobber fans love ironically, but the truth is he plays his character to a fukking tee and he's got loads of experience which makes his promo work, mannerisms, selling, facials, all of the stuff that takes years to fine tune, on point. Even Vince has praised him a couple times backstage

James Ellworth is what they call a "plot device" hes being used as a buffer in the feud between Ambrose and AJ so they dont have to touch or get stale in their interactions. He's also an avatar for casual fans to get behind/underdog.
It's called nuanced storytelling something you guys at the "A" show wouldnt know much about.
