How do you feel about the confederate flag being flown on Capitol buildings.

Logically, would I be safe to assume that your position is, "no one is forcing you to drive by it and see it" or "No one is forcing you to recognize It."

:mjpls:
A more accurate comparison would be how do i feel about people discussing the confederate flag in HL... and the answer is I'm fine with it.
Free

its pretty embarrassing that this thread just proved exactly why the right was going around calling liberals "triggered cucks" all last election

dude just posted a video of some meaningless dikkheads giving their opinions. didnt cosign it, didnt really say anything. just posted a video. and instead of ignoring it, i see a lot of crying about 'how dare this video make it into HL' :laff:

intellectual rigour:ld:
There's not much of anything related to intellectualism when it comes to the alt right. Their beliefs are based on white victimhood and bogus scientific racism that has been debunked for decades.

I've lurked the alt right sections on Reddit and they're all over the place. Racism, sexism, islamaphobia, you name it. One thing they have in common is hate/fear of women and people of color. They sincerely believe that women and nonwhites wanting equality means they will lose their seat at the table. There's no real way to reason with that thinking when statistics prove them wrong over and over, and they just shout about biases.

Their side does fascinate me in a weird way, but like @Althalucian said, you have to be careful when legitimizing their POV. Most of them aren't interested in actual conversation or debate.

Mother Jones actually has a few interesting articles about the alt right for people who want to look at them from a safe distance.

Agreed, but this was an actual conversation where a couple of ethno nationalist laid out there position.

That said, don't we have to legitimize it(discuss/confront it) in order to fight it and ultimately be rid of it?:ld:

What I don't get is the women in the movement. They all seem to have legit mental illnesses.

In general, sure. I agree with discussing/confronting views that you disagree with when they're based on reasonable arguments. Most of the alt right's arguments fall outside of that spectrum from what I've seen, and there's not much to discuss below the surface. A lot of them use circular logic.

They probably approve of the white nationalist viewpoints and try to ignore the sexism. Plenty of people will align themselves with an entire group if they agree with just one argument.
