Am I required to go to jury duty?

I just got summoned int he mail apparently. Now, I won't be taking classes this summer and spring semester is over after next week. So....I don't have that excuse. If I just don't fukking show up, these dudes gonna come after me or nah?

Yeah you have to go. You can be exempt from it but it has to be a really good reason to be excused from jury duty. Normally if you are student you could get out of it but you said you don't have any classes going on for few months. If you don't show up for no reason then you will be in contempt of court.

There are ways to get out of it if you're selected to sit on an actual case, but you've got to at least show up to the selection. You can claim you're very religious and have a problem being someone's judge (I saw a guy get sent home for saying that)

You can also claim a prejudice or a bias. I personally was selected for a trial and was dismissed when I told the lawyer I had a bias towards drug dealers because my uncle was a coke head (it was a coke case).

this dude I worked with tried to get out of it by saying he was racist to white people (cause it was a Cac case) but the funny thing was my co-worker was white too...
they made his ass go anyway.
