i do the normal x-axis but invert the y axis. If that makes any sense.

I feel like its because inverted was the default control scheme during the psx/N64 era. Most people I know that grew up in that era plays inverted.
Normal feels off to me, I see it as if the joystick is controlling the characters head then naturally I'd pull back on the stick to look up and forward to look down. Similar to flight controls in a flying game.

No.That is why they give you the option to play inverted because there is a percentage of players that like to play inverted.

You're right but I just never seen/heard of itI figure somebody does, or they wouldn't give the option.
Inverted Y axis as well.
