Washington (CNN Business)Amazon is dramatically increasing salary caps for its US-based technology and corporate workforce, in a nod to how the pandemic has exacerbated an already fierce competition for talent nationwide.

The e-commerce and cloud computing giant announced in an internal blog post Monday that the company's maximum base pay in the United States is more than doubling, to $350,000 a year from $160,000.

out of all the companies amazon paid the least in my experience for tech roles, they also work longer hours. Glad they're increasing it. 350k isn't that unheard of.

Anyone who is at the level to make $350,000 at Amazon is probably worth $1 million at a large financial firm, PE, or a bank. Straight up.

capping c-suite salaries mean nothing when they can simply provide them compensation in the form of stock options, which is actually better since they are taxed at a lower rate (capital gains tax) vs salary (federal income tax) when they sell those shares.

Max 160k in base salary. You get bonuses and stock compensation to make up the rest
