Used to take one Sunday out the month and pay for one movie and stay all day.I miss those days when I would intimidate the teenage ticket checker at the front talmbout "aye man I dropped my keys. I gotta find them in the theater right quick."

People want to goto the movies. That experience pisses on streaming and we all know it. Same way people like eating at nice restaurants.What makes you so sure the movie theater industry as a whole isn't in trouble? What makes you think people still want to be in movie theaters?
I mean, I do. But I know plenty of people who don't....
We can excuse the restaurants because that shyt is razor thin on the margins and what we like the most are mom and pops. AMC? Oh well.

Sure they do most people can't afford it though.
Theaters went subscription based. $20 a month for up to 12 movies in the case of AMC A-List. Quite affordable, but theaters can't beat free- cracked Firesticks, Torrents, streams...

Sure. People are able to go to whatever theater chain they want, see any movie they want, but any snacks they want. If AMC fails, another will fill the void.

People want to be in movie theaters. AMC has a clearly terrible business model.= if they can't ride this out.
The other theaters aren't saying they're in trouble though. AMC took a gamble with A-list. They were going to take a hit on profits, but they knew that it would become profitable. And it was starting to. When I first got it no one was in the A-List line for concessions. Then I started to notice as the months went by, that line was getting longer and longer. They were starting to see a profit. Covid-19 hit and now they're stuck out there.

Keep in mind it's still hard for them to keep the doors open even with the concession stand mark mark mark ups. Theaters might be gone already without them.
