Do you guys have education for immigrants and people from other countries where they learn their native language? If so, what is it called?

To clarify, I mean as a school subject where people with roots from other countries can learn their language, not go through biology or whatever in their language. Is there a class for this? I need to know what its called if it exists

We live in the belly of the beast, literally the countries who were/are at the forefront of global white supremacy.

The only time I learned about Black Africans in a class room was The Trans- Atlantic Slave Trade, told from a distorted/bias point of view. At the hands of people who have no care what-so-ever to provide me with the knowledge to overthrow their oppression of my race.

Black Africans of the world united is their biggest fear. Why?... I honestly don't know, but I'd love to find out.

At the rate of which these people have been trying to take us out, this is the only conclusion.

Genocide! Ethnic Cleansing! Slavery! Diabetes! Heart Disease! Stroke! Aids! Black on Black Crime! Drugs! Racially motivated murders too... from Lynching to Cop Killing!

fukk r U talking about breh :dwillhuh:

Ur explanation is unclear. U looking for a class where Immigrants learn English? If so that would be ESL(English as a Second Language). Or you looking for classes that are in foreign languages for immigrants? Cause those dont exist.

haha, I know, I was in class typing it on my phone.

To clarify even better; here in sweden we have classes for people who have roots in other countries, where they can learn their native language and improve on it. For example, I read amharic in my native language class because I'm originally from Ethiopia. So everyone who has roots in other countries can take a class in their native language and I'm wondering if there's something similar to this in the states? Here every person who has roots in another country has to be offered to take these classes, but they dont have to.

You're telling me that people who have immigrated to the states doesn't get to work on their native language :merchant: :snoop:??

People, as in adults?
When I used to be in school (NYC), they used to have this thing called "bilingual education" for immigrant kids. The goal was for those kids to take classes in their language to where they would eventually be strong enough to take classes in English like everyone else.
Only thing is, by school and by teacher, the amount of English taught in these classes can vary wildly.

If you want to know if they have classes just to teach you your language, no. :pachaha: The only language classes offered are usually just French and Spanish, maybe one or two more depending on the school.

edit: Just now saw your post:

Nope. Plus, for a long time, immigration to the USA meant dropping much of your old identity and embracing a brand new one. Even if it's not like that anymore, I can't imagine something like this being implemented. :pachaha:

Damn! :ohhh: And to be clear, I was talking about school kids from anywhere from kindergarden to high school.

But yeah, that's quite confusing. Studies are super clear that immigrants need to have great knowledge in their native language to succeed in their new language so its kinda weird that they dont provide people to learn their native language. you shouldnt have to drop your old identity, thats just weird from the get-go. Guess yall still working with assimilation when it comes to immigrants :patrice: learning your native language even better actually makes it easier to learn english so theres alot of benefits to having great knowledge in your native language.

oh well, thanks. I'm writing my masters thesis on the subject so I wanted to see if there were any american studies about it to get me started. guess not :snoop:

Yeah, bilingual is offered for all the school grades up to HS.
I don't know exactly how it works since I wasn't in those classes, but from what I remember they're supposed to learn stuff in their language while learning English at the same time so that they eventually would just be taking English classes. That's what I remember path was supposed to be. How they do it now, I don't know. I graduated years ago.

If I understand your question. You mean where schools are taught in a language other than English.

Yes, my sister went to an all French elementary school and is fluent in French. We aren't French or from a French background. My friend is Korean. Born in LA. She went to a school taught entirely in Korean. She bilingual

Those sound like private schools.

damn that sounds pretty sick :ohhh: for how many languages do they offer that?

i mean we do have french immersion, or arab schools and other ethnicities/languages. but in a regular highschool nikkas r taught only in english and they can take Spanish classes(or french in canada) to learn a second language.

nah, I'm aware of those types of schools. I'm talking about just your regular high school having to provide a class for people with roots from other countries, in which they can learn their native language. It seems like yall dont have it over there .

Yeah, I understand now. They have to offer that for whatever languange the country you have roots in speak. It's by law. You dont have to be an immigrant per se either, just have a parent or relative from another country (dont really know where they draw the line). So most people with parents from another country will take those classes instead of the regular french / spanish / italian classes or you can choose to take them both and remove another class from your schedule.

Its like this from kindergarden all the way through high school. Lol, in high school I actually went to my school and said I was from Kenya and wanted the english as a native language class :russ: they didnt even bother to look it up since I was black. good times, but its actually a cool system because its important for people with parents who immigrated to be able to speak their native language. It helps learning and its important to be able to communicate with relatives when you visit the country you're originally from etc.

I answered your question in full, re-read my post. I gave the exact reason why this is not in practice

Knowledge of self is a danger to them which "they" made taboo, because it is the key

As you noted, they use assimilation tactics.
