How in the holy fukk did this movie make so much money? It has Oscar buzz, but it's not even a longshot to win anything. It's like 70% on rotten tomatoes. There are copies all over the internet. It's a mid January release. The trailers show basically nothing (did everyone go just to see if he shoots that kid?) I don't thinl Chris Kyle's story is that well known.

I can't get over that box office. that's good for 40th all time. There have only been 40 movies in history to open for more money and almost all of them are what you'd expect. Did every single person over 50 go see this? I'm sure it cleaned up with the fat "murica" portion of the country, but 90 friggin million?!

Yeah that's why I went to see it. I had a massive white racist hard on at the potential of a middle eastern woman and child getting sniped in a movie.

Nah but I did see it last night and honestly it wasn't that great. Bradley Cooper was good in it but the rest of the movie was just mehh. Didn't like the way they switched back and forth from his tours of duty to him being back home. Only a few parts that were actually really suspenseful. And when the credits started rolling everyone in the audience was just sitting through it even though there wasn't any extra footage or anything like they were paying respect to Chris Kyle and my girlfriend was like "do we have to sit through this?" and I was like nah and we dipped but legit were the only ones leaving lol.

It is pretty much AMERICA: THE MOVIE. I knew the red states would eat this shyt up. Not to the tune of $90M but I guess it's not completely shocking given the taste of these rednecks.

Why is it baffling? They play the commercial for it in every NFL game for weeks now. I bet all of the south saw this movie. It was Oscar nominated, so old people assume it is good and go see it.

The average public doesn't know about screeners breh.
