This is in part due to the subpar public education system, in part due to systemic bias against educated Black people, implicit (and sometimes explicit) bias from employers, and a whole host of other issues stemming from chattel slavery, Jim Crow, efforts to prevent Black wealth from being generational, active efforts to break down sections of the Black community, etc.Too much focus is put on education in the first place. Opening it up to everyone will uplift and further other demographics without really providing much advancement for blacks according to most studies.
We shouldn't champion this...
At least not till our community changes its outlook on education.

These studies can't create a hypothetical, they can only make conclusions from available data.
Good responses. Also, we need to fix our educational system and try to teach kids life skills. There's a lot of issues that need fixing.
Tax money that goes to wars can be funded for that. Look at Sweden's mixed-economy. That should give you the answer.
I was a highschool honors student personally. However, compared to other countries our educational system is mediocre.

Happy camper here in Sweden. I completed six years of college completely free. I haven't paid a dime. Infact, you even get roughly 350 dollars a month if you study 100 % at college level. For high school it's less money, something like 120 dollars per month of studies.

Taxes would be insane.
To me, my personal opinion is that parents should be the main ones teaching their children life skills.

I see a lot of college grads calling for this. I guess they think debt forgiveness will be part of such a bill...I doubt it. Downside to this is...let's say college becomes free tomorow. Over time, what will happen to the value of the degree graduates currently hold? Sure you have your job now. Let's say that company goes under in 5 years? So now you're in this new flooded market with folks who didn't pay a cent for the same degree you're still paying for. Wanna do something? Sensible tuition caps. Colleges charge enough bs fees as it is.

In other words, if you make college free, expect the collapse of a lot of colleges. HBCUs would take a massive hit...like impact that killed the dinosaurs hit....it would take decades to get the system stable enough to withstand such a hit and remain intact. Unless you're somebody who loves anarchy, Suddenly Free College should scare the fukk outta you.

True, but these schools also need a money management class and a lifeskills class. Let's be honest, some parents don't even go to their kid's PTA meetings. My parents went to ALL of mine.
