Naruto Franchise Gets New Boruto Manga Supervised by Masashi Kishimoto (Updated)

Naruto assistant artist Mikio Ikemoto will draw new series focused on Boruto
The countdown website for the "Next Generation" of the Naruto franchise ended on Saturday to announce a new manga in the franchise. Mikio Ikemoto, who worked as an assistant under original manga creator Masashi Kishimoto on Naruto, is drawing the new manga. Kishimoto will supervise the manga, and Ukyō Kodachi (Naruto - Gaara Hiden: Sajingensō novel, Boruto -Naruto the Movie-screenplay cooperation) will write the manga's script. The new manga will focus on Boruto.

The new manga will be titled Boruto and it will run in Weekly Shonen Jumpstarting in spring 2016. The magazine will publish new chapters once a month.

Ikemoto wrote the two-chapter "COSMOS" short manga for Weekly Shonen Jumpin 1997 and 1999.

Shueisha had launched the countdown site last month, and the countdown had featured the logo and the silhouettes of the characters from Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto manga — specifically, of the children of the main characters from the Naruto manga, who were featured in Boruto -Naruto the Movie- and in Kishimoto's Naruto: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring one-volume sequel manga.

Kishimoto ended his main Naruto manga after 15 years of serialization last November. He then wrotethe Naruto: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring one-volume sequel manga, and also worked on the script and character designs and served as the chief production supervisor on the Boruto -Naruto the Movie- film sequel. A series of novels continued the story after the manga's end.

At a preview screening for Boruto -Naruto the Movie- in July, Boruto voice actress Yuko Sanpei said that she "wanted to see the films continue," and Kishimoto responded with a wry smile, "I can't. Please let me rest now." After finishing Naruto, Kishimoto said, "During this time, I finally went on my honeymoon. Even though my son has grown as big as [protagonist Naruto's son] Boruto." Kishimoto had gotten married over a decade ago.

Kishimoto attended this year's New York Comic Con event on October 8-11. He confirmed that he is working on plans for his next manga, a science-fiction story.

Update: Oricon clarified that the new Boruto manga will be published once a month in Weekly Shonen Jump. This article previously incorrectly stated that the manga would only run for one month.

TV Tokyo also revealed that the title of the anime will be Naruto Shippūden: Itachi Shinden-hen ~Hikari to Yami~ (Naruto Shippūden: The True Legend of Itachi Volume ~Light and Darkness~).

Shueisha released author Takashi Yano's Itachi Shinden novel in two parts. Amazon described the first novel as follows:

Itachi Uchiha, age four. After seeing what occurs on the battlefield up close, he makes a certain decision. He decided that he would change the world. The dream that Itachi aimed for. His dream: A Hokage from the Uchiha clan, and a future where those he loved could live in peace. His time in the ninja academy, his meeting with Shisui, becoming a Genin, Chunin, and finally a member of the Anbu... Itachi ran straight down a path of glory, not knowing that a cruel darkness was spreading...
This is the story of the glory, frustration, and determination of the ninja called a genius.
And it described the second novel as follows:

Along with his sworn friend Shisui, Itachi undertakes an assassination mission to take out spies in order to join the Anbu. In addition, the rivalry between the Uchiha clan and the village becomes even more furious, and it finally causes the death of a friend. Having lost all hope in his clan and village, along with gaining a new eye and making a certain decision, Itachi walks into the night of tragedy. The kind yet cruel truth of the dream and hope he left to his brother... is revealed here.
Itachi Shinden and Sasuke Shinden were the first two installments in the NarutoShinden (Naruto True Legend) novel series. Sasuke Shinden (The True Legend of Sasuke) shipped in November.

Shueisha previously published six Naruto epilogue novels earlier this year: Kakashi Hiden, Shikamaru Hiden, Akatsuki Hiden, Gaara Hiden, Sakura Hiden, and Konoha Hiden.

Viz Media has licensed the first three epilogue novels — Kakashi Hiden, Shikamaru Hiden, and Sakura Hiden — for English release in North America.

This chapter was dope. Wow. We haven't even scratched the surface yet either. :wow:

- Is Momoshiki really still alive?

- "Those blue eyes will take everything from you" WTF does that mean? :merchant:

- What is the diamond on Boruto's hand and is it connected to shyt he and Kawaki had on their arms in Chapter 1?

- Did Sasuke hear the whole interaction between Momoshiki and Boruto?

- How did Momoshiki know his mom had those eyes?

- The Byakugan gonna be crucial this time around. Boruto gonnahave some wild shyt I'm sure.

I mean it's a cash cow, you thought Kishi was gonna let this slide?
pretty much

One piece, Dragonball, and Naruto are basically like Star wars of manga/anime(Espescially One piece and Dragonball)

just look at this
List of the highest-grossing cross media franchises - Wikipedia

Dragonball has accumulated 5 billion in 30 years

One piece is at 1 billion but that was during when its 7 years old as a franchise and since has grown like a mothafukka both in Japan and internationally.

One piece has overall better movie sales better than DB and manga sales and other stuff excluding games.

One piece is probably 5 billion to 6 billion

Naruto is probably rn at 1 billion

either way these three are some rich ass franchises

Is the manga any good? I'm talking chunin exam, strategic jutsu fights not the overpowered war arc.

Just started. Kishi did say that it will be more like the OG Naruto and less like War Arc Naruto at least until they get older...
