He was not defending well, not like he was against Okami or Vitor. He was just rolling with punches in a flash over substance predictable manner. Weidman simply doubled up on him and he rolled his head into a left hook while expecting a right hand. No high level boxer, not even Roy Jones who's always in position to defend himself simply bobs back and forth with ridiculous exaggerated head movement.

This journeyman starts working Silva with doubling when he tries that COCKY bullshyt:

That was 5 years ago and he STILL never learned. Not everyone is Stephan Bonnar. He was smart enough to realise that fighting Vitor whose hands he respected. What was this nikka thinking :mindblown:?

did you think Weidman's punches were thrown correctly? his boxing technique was garbage also. Anderson had head movement, he just didn't move his feet, which was the difference compared to the similar antics he pulled in the past. Regardless Roy would give him that work.

I agree with you. Weidman's win was ugly as hell but Anderson gave it to him.

I think Anderson got confident after he was able to somewhat make weidman second guess grappling after the first round. He got hit with some shots that probably genuinely did not hurt him and he thought he could just eat all of them. The KO mechanism was at a perfect angle for Silva because of the way his head was tilted when he was dodging punches. Heres a good explanation on why you get KO'd when you get his in the jaw.

If you feel behind you ear, just above your jaw bone, you will feel a bony ridge on either side of your head. That bony ridge protects a bunch of nerves, and a punch landing on the point of the chin drives the jaw bone into that bunch of nerves, causing temporary paralysis, disorientation and loss of co-ordination that usally lasts between ten to fifteen seconds (a knockout). It's a bunch of nerves, not just one, but you heard correctly.

A punch you might be able to take headon might knock you out when it jolts your jaw/neck into those nerves. Silva got cocky/careless and paid.

The worst thing about that loss is that Weidman looked outclassed before he got ko'd
