Kentucky State University shooting leaves one dead and one injured :francis: RIP


FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — At least one person was killed and another was critically wounded in a shooting at Kentucky State University on Tuesday, and a suspect was in custody, police said.
Police in Frankfort, the state’s capital, said the campus was on lockdown.

The governor’s office confirmed there was a shooting.

“We will share more information as available,” Gov. Andy Beshear said in a post on X. “Law enforcement are on scene, and a suspect has been arrested. Let’s pray for all those affected.”
Kentucky State is a public historically Black university with about 2,200 students. Lawmakers authorized the school’s creation in 1886.

Grand jury decides not to indict suspect in deadly Kentucky State University shooting​




FRANKFORT, Ky. —

A grand jury has returned a no true bill for Jacob Bard, meaning it has decided not to charge him.

Now the question is, will anyone be charged?

The case for Bard, the man accused in the deadly Kentucky State University shooting, was presented to a grand jury on Tuesday.

The 48-year-old was initially charged with murder and assault for the Dec. 9 shooting.

De'Jon Fox, 19, was shot and killed, and another student was injured by gunfire during a fight on campus.

Bard's attorneys are saying he was justified in his use of deadly force under the law.

In a statement issued Monday, the attorneys claimed KSU and university police failed to address multiple armed and violent felonies against Bard's sons and other students leading up to the day of the shooting.

They say Bard decided to withdraw his sons from KSU and requested police escort to move them out of the dorm, but claim when they arrived on Dec. 9, 20 to 30 people were there and began to attack his family.

The attorneys say Bard pulled out a gun and fired at people he says were beating his son.

They said his son was slammed into the concrete, and had multiple people on top of him beating his head against the pavement with feet and fists.

And Bard claims he himself was "violently kicked in the face by an individual involved in the assault against his family," and was defending himself and his family.

His bond was at $100,000. It was posted just after 9 a.m. on Tuesday, ahead of the grand jury decision.

A “no true bill” means the grand jury decided there wasn’t enough evidence to charge him with the crime he's accused of.

So as of now, no one is facing charges in the shooting.

However, WLKY spoke with the county attorney after the decision and he said more charges could be coming for other people involved.

Asked if he meant the group of 20-30 people who lawyers alleged launched the attack against the Bards, he said yes.

From what I gathered, the shooters son reported a burglary by a gang and was threatened by the gang. The son was beaten up by the gang. The family came to move the son from the dorm & was attacked. The dad had his piece with him and shot two of the attackers.

I can believe the 20 - 30 people . I had an incident where an old ass nikka was mad i was getting all the money on campus. I was 18 he was like 22 and had all the young lame nikkas wanting to get in his good graces. They walked in surrounded me and he snuffed me out. My plug was my homie but he got in a car accident so he left that semester and put me on. They was scared of him but once he was gone they tried me. Put the call in and he had some flint nikkas handle that.
