Another goon escapes custody in New York (This time Harlem)

CBS NEW YORK— A man escaped police custody late Tuesday while being taken from a Harlem NYPD precinct station to Central Booking, police said.

Around 7:45 p.m. Tarek Arnold was being transported from the 32nd Precinct stationhouse in Harlem, police told CBS2.

Arnold had been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and was in handcuffs when he escaped, police said.

As CBS2’s Tony Aiello reported, Arnold allegedly escaped by pushing an officer and running away.

Police late Tuesday were looking him around 480 St. Nicholas Ave., between 133rd and 134th streets, where he was last spotted.

The NYPD called a level one mobilization which brought dozens of cops and bloodhounds to the scene.

Residents of nearby buildings were being told to stay indoors on Tuesday night. Residents who were outside waited nearly two hours to return to their homes.

“I just came home from work, and I went to pull up, and while I pulled up, I seen one car pulling up there — and three cops jumped out the car,” one woman said.

Residents said the building is chock full of surveillance cameras, which helped police determine that Arnold was no longer in the building.

Authorities were filtering throughout the city on Tuesday night with the escapee’s picture, trying to track him down.
