SAN ANTONIO -- A man is arrested after he's accused of harboring a runaway teen from Houston and having a sexual relationship with her, the affidavit states.
On December 20, the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) was assisting in a missing persons investigation for a 15-year-old from Houston. It was believed that the child ran away with a boyfriend, who was later identified as 21-year-old Napier Owens.
The affidavit states that SAPD reached out to a family member of Owens that lives in a San Antonio apartment. Nearby, SAPD found a camp at a park where Owens and the child were found on December 22. Owens stated to authorities that he was trying to "rescue" the victim.
SAPD states in the affidavit that Owens waived his Miranda rights and agreed to speak with detectives. Owens told authorities that he knew that the victim was under the age of 18 after being told by the mother. Owens told detectives that he and his sister drove to Houston to get the victim prior to being reported missing. He also told officials that while with the victim, he had sexual intercourse with the child and had videos of the victim naked on his cell phone.
While traveling with the adolescent, Owens was aware that she was a missing and endangered child and saw multiple news stories regarding the victim. He also admitted that Cibolo police came to his residence at one point looking for the child and said that he was hiding her from authorities.
Napier Owens has been charged with sexual assault of a child, indecency with child by contact and harboring a runaway child with bonds totaling to $325,000.
