Exactly what I came in to say.

As far as this thread to this day I hate Charles Barkley for this fight. Spurs/Lakers were playing the same night as this fight was happening. So me and some friends decided to watch Spurs/Lakers first and then after that's over watch the PPV. The game was at halftime and in the middle of them talking out of nowhere Barkley just yells "OMG Roy Jones just got knocked out". Spoiled that shyt for us big time. So then we all went running into the other room to watch and see what happened.
:dead:fukk i remember this

Yeah he beat Roy at 35..but Roy, in his prime, was a force of nature like nothing in boxing history.

Roy vs Tyson was gonna be a predicted 100 million fight at the time.

Roy was my guy. He was there with us in 2000 when Lil J opened Prince gym. He did a sparring session with a few of us. Fastest hands I'd ever seen on a human being.

Can't remember what fight it was but I remember him shouting out Uncle Ernest (Lil J's father) after he died post-fight.

I remember the first Tarver fight, and thinking that I'd never seen him rest on the ropes so much. That's when I knew he should've stayed at HW or at least jumped to Cruiser.

Fighting someone in the amateurs prior really can be a huge confidence booster for Boxers

Tarver unlike many who faced Roy did not lack confidence when facing Roy. In his mind he KNEW he could hang with him. Both being from Florida, and having that very competitive match in the amateurs was all he needed
