Anyone a licensed, practicing Barber here on The Coli? Whether you run your own shop, bounce around between private clients, or rent a chair?
I'm behind a desk all damn day and I'm dying to get out. The company I work for used to be great but there have been a lot of changes and the place did a 180 overnight. I've reached the top in terms of what I could get paid and if I continue in this industry and go to a competitor, I'd be dealing with the same shyt...
I have a few other side hustles going on. My overhead and cost of living is low. Medium amount of debt but it's manageable, very manageable/affordable living expenses. Eventually I want to continue to keep my overhead low and transition out of this corporate office nonsense and bounce around between my other things and just do that.
I was in a new barbershop yesterday on a break from work and was just in awe of how happy everyone seemed. I know when you're coming from a toxic type of work environment, everything seems better from the outside looking in. shyt, I'm even looking out my window jealous of the guys picking up the garbage. But I spoke to my barber and they basically confirmed. It's a grind just like everything else - but the thought of having my own clients and seeing direct results of work I did with my own hands (
) seems so much more rewarding than dotting I's and crossing T's making someone else a bunch of money
Trying to see if there are any barbers on here who can share their experiences. The licensing process, what the grind is like, "if they could do it all over again..." etc. I don't have any aspirations of running my own shop - I just want to add it to my arsenal of side hustles and cut hair for $
