House is only a couple years old, has an existing Ring door bell. I’m having issues with either the door bell or the chime. Spoke with the ring costumer service and they sent me a new one.

Problem is I cannot find the breaker to the door bell, I turned them all off and I’m still getting power to the ring… Whole house has no power but the door bell and the garage still has power too. Any advice?

Did you find the transformer for the door bell ?
You do not have to turn off anything to deal with low voltage door bell .
Buy a cheap voltmeter & check voltage between the 2 wires at the door bell & see if you get any voltage . I think a ring needs like 24 volts for it to work . Maybe the home builder installed a 12 volt transformer in the house

If the voltage is below 18 volts go to home Depot & buy a new chime with a 24 volt transformer or just buy a new 24 volt transformer.

So i can replace the old ring with the new ring and not get shocked by the exposed wires?

My brother has a tester and he can test the voltage tomorrow.

When I got the new ring it came with a little power kit that u install in the chime. Here’s a picture.

Well when I opened the chime box he doesn’t have one connected to it, could that be the root of my problems?

The problems I have are ghost rings at night, bell rings for no reason… it only happens at night, if I turn on the porch light I won’t get any ghost rings.

I personally wouldn't buy a ring or any Amazon or Google video equipment. I have never seen what's in that picture so I don't know what it does but start by checking the voltage tomorrow & see if u have 24 volts or 20 volts & if you don't find the transformer & replace it with a 24 volt one . You may want to turn the power off if you replace the transformer because you'll be dealing with 120 volt ac .if you can't locate which breaker feeds the transformer then turn off the main breaker & have a flash light on hand for light . The transformer should be in the garage or close to the chime so the garage breaker should turn it off if it's in the garage . The best veideo door bell is the Eufy door bell

The transformer is in the garage and a couple of feet from the breaker box… crazy thing is I don’t have a main breaker… I turned them all off and I’m still getting power to the door bell and garage.

Most new panels have a main , then buy some leather gloves & work it hot or get help , please do not hurt yourself

Can I work the chime hot too, is it the same as working on the door bell?

Chime is low voltage so yes but the transformer is ac 120 volts on the line side & low on the secondary terminal

Make sure you keep the 2 wires separated because the chime will make noise
