?? That's a K&N style cold air intake intake

K&N is the best.....

nah based on what i've read k&n is :flabbynsick:
the two brands most highly recommended were CAI (pictured above) and rotofab. apparently also performance gains aren't as good as the other two.
the shyt i linked doesnt suck air from the engine bay either, most if not all other intakes do
i'm just trippin off the price :beli:

Yes, I have. That's a nice CAI system, it blocks out the hot air in that enclosed box.
A couple of things to note:
1. It's really a waste of money unless you have a turbo-charged car. All that will do is keep the air flow high compared to paper-based air filters.
2. You aren't getting any more HP or torque. Again, it's better for turbo-charged cars where the vacuum pressure of sucking in air can be improved with a better CAI system.
You may get better fuel efficiency. And you may be able to get around 5 more HP but only at red line (5000 to 7000 RPM) because it allows more air than a paper air filter. No one drives around at 6K to 7K RPMs all the time. At 2K to 5 K, you won't experience any more power.
3. Yes, that enclosed box keeps the air temp down, but this isn't going to give you more power as you are generally running your engine around 2K to 4K RPMs. When you are racing and the engine bay is hot, high intake air temps can decrease HP. If you are buzzing around town or cruising on the highway, the decreased air temp to the engine will provide almost unfeelable power increases.

Depends on the car really. I would do it. Don't expect anything but a better sound really.

Depending on the car you will notice a better throttle response and a louder sound from the bay. K and B series Honda motors the gain is noticeable.

I would always choose a short ram over a CAI since you have the risk of sucking in water, puddles etc...

The photo shows it is a short ram... Captain Obvious.
